This minimalist sculpture is (approximately) located in front of 102 Greene Street in Soho, NYC.
It appears be made of brushed aluminum, but who knows.
This plaque, attached to the building in front of which it sits, identifies the piece as Undulating Column (1977) by artist Hans Van de Bovenkamp.

The problem with an item of furniture that is also an expensive piece of collectible art is that you tend to not want to use it for its originally intended function, which would be, of course, to sit on it. Because we’ve all been told countless items to refrain from touching the art, let alone putting our asses on it.

Holy cow! How rad are these Rainbow Hued Tumblers from the MOMA Design Store? Answer: So Rad. I know you’re probably thinking that it would be too risky to buy these, because drinking glasses — especially fancy drinking glasses — break so darn easily. But while these tumblers look like glass, they are made of durable acrylic! Their teardrop-shaped interior has a rainbow effect that radiates from the base throughout the tumbler.
