From 1943 to 1947, Georgia O’Keeffe painted a series that explored the intricate shapes and surfaces of animal bones. The bones were pictured in their entirety or in magnified detail. In this abstract variation, Pelvis II (1944) O’Keeffe draws attention to the blue sky seen through the empty socks. The work demonstrates her ability to present what the writer Jean Toomer described as “the universe through the portal of a bone.”

Candy-colored plastics and glass lure us to discover shells, nails, bones, and even weapons embedded in this complex assemblage. Prosthetic eyes stare back at us, and two small wooden figurines flank a central “empty chair.”
This disquieting dress is 3D printed, and the 3D file was developed by designer Iris van Herpen along with architect Isaie Bloch. The file-making took two months of intense drawing and a full week of printing in a very sophisticated machine. According to van Herpen, “People often think that when you create something by machine, it is perfect, but this dress is a good example of the opposite. While the dress was printing, many small ‘faults’ happened because of the intense heating of the material. This makes the bones irregular, and makes it look even more real.”
Aside from owning and operating one of Connecticut’s premier custom guitar shops, The Guitar Hangar, guitarist Rick Tedesco is probably best known for his work with recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Alice Cooper bassist Dennis Dunaway. When the Dennis Dunaway Project declined to finish recording its sophomore album, Tedesco took his songs, enlisting the assistance of some of his fellow Connecticut musicians, and recorded his first solo effort with A Light In The Attic.
