Named after a Laboue village in northern Dakar, this Yoff dress is inspired by the energy and urban environment of the city. Senegalese designer Selly Raby Kane created her Autumn/Winter 2017 collection, which includes the Yoff Dress, as a celebration of Dakar and its “transgressive, creative processes, and cross -disciplinary vision,” The collection is named for the imagined location of 17 Rue Jules Ferry.

Praxis is a Colombian-born street artist who spray-paints amazingly realistic stencil portraits of animals all around the streets of NYC. This Pink Lion — captured-mid-roar — is part of a series of pink animals that adorn the facade of the Spicy Moon Bar located on Bowery just below Houston. Amy Shekhter is an emergent, emerging American contemporary artist who’s inspired by historic iconic figures and her love of today’s fashion. Amy uses a creative mix of mediums, merging digital design with various layers of texture using resin, glitter, paint, and crystals. By putting a modern spin on familiar imagery — as with this 2023 portrait of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo entitled The Great Escape (Frida), Amy’s pop art not only introduces younger generations to these important icons, but also touches on materialism and values of today’s culture.
