Pink Thing of The Day: Pink Pokémon Ditto Plushy

OMG, how cute is this week’s Pink Thing of The Day? I found this adorable plushy at Flame Con 2019 and was informed that this is a Pokémon creature called Ditto. Here’s the lowdown from the Pokémon Wiki (yes, there is one):

In its natural state, Ditto is a light purple or pink amorphous Pokémon with vestigial facial features. The face consists of a simple mouth and beady eyes. It also appears to have two pseudopods protruding from its body that it uses as arms. It is capable of transforming into an exact replica of any physical object, including its form and abilities. However, if Ditto tries to transform into something based on memory, it may get some of the details wrong.

If you think you’ve been to every kind of cool art gallery in New York City, from the LES to Midtown, but you have not yet been to Waterfall Mansion, then now is a good time to add a visit to this uptown gem of an art destination to your bucket list. Waterfall Mansion, a Townhome only open to the public for a few hours each Saturday (and the rest of the week by appointment only) specializes in unique exhibits by Asian artists, really does have a two-story waterfall inside, but to really appreciate that distinguishing architectural feature you need to go in person.

Jean Arp, also known as Hans Arp (September 16, 1886 – June 7, 1966) was a German-French sculptor, painter, poet and abstract artist in other media such as torn and pasted paper. When Arp spoke in German he referred to himself as Hans, and when he spoke in French he referred to himself as Jean. Interesting!

Modern Art Monday Presents: Lynda Benglis, Modern Art 1970 – 1974

Modern Art 1970-74

Modern Art 1970 – 1974 is a cast-in-two-parts Bronze and Aluminum modular sculpture by American Sculptor and Visual Artist, Lynda Benglis. The work (created between 1973 and 1974) includes four individual sculptures that are identical in form while maintaining an organic feel. To me they look like molten lead, tongues or platypus bills.

You know it’s going to be a good opening reception when a gallery’s press email announces that there will be a Donut Cart onsite. Sadly, we were not swift and ruthless enough to procure a delicious fried confection (provided by the Donut Plant). But it hardly mattered, because Kolors, the latest Kenny Scharf art collection tucked inside the Paul Kasmin Gallery was, oh, so satisfyingly sweet.
