One of our favorite food-related trade shows, Editor Showcase, kicked off its 2014 series on February 20th with an eclectic mix of Health & Nutrition products at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. As both manufacturers and consumers raise their consciousness towards living a healthier lifestyle. I can hardly contain myself at these trade shows, walking in  for the first time and seeing all the Teardrop Flags with the different products to try, it’s exciting to see what new products come onto the market and how well-established brands adapt to changing consumer demands. Here are a a few of our favorite products and displays from the show!

The Office of New York State Senator Brad Hoylman is sponsoring an afternoon of Free Mammograms, available to women age 40 and over who haven’t had one in the past year.

Jack LaLanne, Dead at 96


September 26, 1914 – January 23, 2011

Fitness Pioneer and Nutrition Guru, Jack LaLanne, passed away on Sunday at the age of 96. What a good, long life he lived! LaLanne was an inspiration to millions of people as a man who not only preached and taught personal fitness through common sense diet and exercise but also completely lived the lifestyle that he espoused.

Author and Punk Rock Legend George Tabb Needs Our Help!

Aside from knowing NYC rock journalist and musician George (Furious George) Tabb for years and always knowing him to be an all around great guy, George is a former WTC area resident who really stepped up to the plate after 9/11 as a voice of the people concerned with the environmental hazards resulting from the tragedy. Despite the obvious, Environmental Protective Agency (EPA) Administrator Christie Whitman said a week after the attacks: “I am glad to reassure the people of New York  that their air is safe to breathe and their water is safe to drink…” Yeah, right.
