Well, it’s Black History Month, and to start the celebration let’s take a deep dive into a fabulous new exhibit by one of our favorite African American artists, Nick Cave! Through March 29th, Jack Shainman Gallery is hosting Amalgams and Graphts, an exhibition of new work by Cave, marking the inaugural presentation at the gallery’s new flagship Tribeca location. Amalgams and Graphts introduces two distinct series that push the artist’s singular style and vision to an epic realm, while maintaining an intimate and personal conversation with his audience.

Giant Soft Fan (1966 – 67) by Claes Oldenburg is an iconic piece of Pop Art that reflects the artist’s fascination with transforming everyday objects into playful, large-scale sculptures. This piece is part of his broader exploration of soft sculptures, a form he pioneered in the 1960s.

Agathe Labaye is an architect and Florian Sumi a visual artist. After a career in their respective fields, the two began their collaboration in the spring 2018, with their first collection of furniture, entitled Le Salon. Coincidentally, it was at the 2023 Salon Art + Design that we spotted the duo’s magnificent glowing pink floor lamp, Colonne Noailles.
