It is known in some circles that, back in my Rock Journalist days, my very first in-person interview was with the walking enigma that is Marilyn Manson. The not-yet Antichrist Superstar was 24 years old the time time and I was much younger than I am now. Despite the fact that he is not so well-liked these days — owing to certain abhorrent behavior which we do not condone by the inclusion of this likeness of him as this week’s Pink Thing — Manson was very polite to me and an excellent interview subject on whom to ‘cut my teeth,’ as they say. Too bad he turned out to be such a dick.

Pink Thing of The Day: Pink Date Machines
Sweet Cats Bubble Tea and Claw Machines is Asian-inspired dessert cafe which I am told specializes in “plush toys and desserts in colorful gift boxes.” There’s one on East 17th Street that opened recently and I walked by it just this week. In addition to serving ice cream and bubble tea, the cafe is crammed with a variety of colorful and dazzling claw prize machines, because you need more cute stuff to spend your money on.

I wish I could recall where I saw this Pink Henley-style T Shirt, which is obviously a sample for a place that makes custom-message t-shirts. I found it buried in my Pink Things archive (yes, it exists) with no surrounding context other than dating back to August of 2019. The mystery lives on.
Pink Thing of The Day: Pink Neon Glow
I don’t know about you, but when I’m on my own and away from my apartment for too long, I start to feel a little bit lonely, even if I’m technically around other people. I think this is due to me being very attached to my things: specifically, my Pink Things. It’s probably no surprise to learn that the dominant colors in the Chickpad are shades of pink and bold accents of red. It is like living in a cozy pink cocoon. I love it so much.
