François-Xavier, along with his wife Claude Lalanne, became famous for merging sculpture with everyday objects, transforming them into delightful and fantastical creations.

Eye On Design: Salon Art + Design Announces its 13th Edition with New Exhibitors and More!

There are many reasons to look forward to Fall in NYC —  cooler temps for one! What I’m most excited about though is the return of my favorite design event,  Salon Art + Design: the immersive design experience that shows all the other art fairs how it’s done. As the leading collectible design and art fair (produced by Sanford L. Smith + Associates), Salon Art + Design, taking place annually at  NYC’s Park Avenue Armory, has just announced its 13th edition,. This year’s fair will run from November 7th to 11th, 2024, so get ready for some great fun and inspiration.

Eye On Design: Colonne Noailles Floor Lamp By Agathe Labaye and Florian Sumi

Agathe Labaye is an architect and Florian Sumi a visual artist. After a career in their respective fields, the two began their collaboration in the spring 2018, with their first collection of furniture, entitled Le Salon. Coincidentally, it was at the 2023 Salon Art + Design that we spotted the duo’s magnificent glowing pink floor lamp, Colonne Noailles.

If this exquisite float glass table looks familiar, you maybe recalling our feature on an equally mind-blowing Glass Block Chair from 2019’s Salon Art + Design by the same manufacturers, WonderGlass. Eye On Design: Hans Wegner’s Peacock Easy Chair

Hans Wegner (19142007) was a Danish furniture designer known for his iconic mid-century modern designs, of which the Peacock Easy Chair  (model JH521), is a classic example. The Easy Chair, Peacock model  is a variation of his iconic Peacock Chair (model JH550, designed in 1947), which is highly-regarded for its unique and visually striking backrest, resembling the graceful fan of a peacock’s tail feathers.
