Living in Manhattan is awesome, but it ain’t cheap. If you’ve visited NYC and had the “pleasure” of booking a hotel room, you also know that a few nights’ lodging can easily drain your wallet of $1,000 or more. Ouch. To save some serious cash, but still enjoy centrally located, comfy NYC accommodations, lots of travelers turn to apartment swapping, and this is where a website like MetroGuest comes in handy. More than a marketplace for vacation and other property rentals, MetroGuest is a community of hosts (property owners) and travelers looking to find an easy, complete and reliable alternative to the traditional booking process.

Chicago Unveils Giant Eyeball Sculpture!
Few will argue that the city of Chicago is a fantastic place to go for a vacation. The food is amazing, there are a million places to go and things to do, and even if the weather is crap – as it was on my recent Chicago vacation – there’s tons of stuff to do indoors. But if you are lucky enough to get the good weather, then you can spend a lot of time outdoors because Chicago has breathtaking architecture and outrageous, randomly scattered, publicly displayed works of art. The latest contribution to Chicago’s city scape is called EYE, a three-story tall eyeball sculpture conceived and created by local Chicago artist Tony Tasset, which was installed earlier this week in Chicago’s Pritzker Park.
Favorite Art: The Rock By Peter Blume
You might have noticed that posts on the blog were a little on the thin side last week, because I was away vacationing with my sister in the lovely American city of Chicago. No one will argue that Chicago is a pretty happening place for a vacation, especially if you like to visit amazing sites, eat delicious food and suffer wildly unpredictable weather. In fact, due to last weeks’ extremely shitty inclement weather in “The Windy City,” we ended up doing a lot of “indoor activities” – including one afternoon spent wandering around aimlessly inside the massive Art Institute, Chicago, which is just insane.
Bar Mitzvah Palooza 2009

Sadly I Could Not Locate an Existing Image That Said “Barmitzvah Palooza,” So This Will Have to Do
Later this afternoon I’ll be flying out to the west coast to attend the Bar Mitzvah (aka Barmitzvah Palooza) of Mr. Griffin Sloves. Of course, Barmitzvah Palooza will not encompass the entire weekend, so mixed up with the Torah Reading and such, there will also be a bit of San Francisco touristy site seeing, friend visiting, eating, drinking and more eating. Besides rubbing in your very attractive faces the fact that I’m taking a little vacation, I just wanted to let you know this blog will be unmanned until I get back to New York next Tuesday. I am sorry to leave you without web cleverness for a few days, but it really could not be helped. Please enjoy perusing a few of my classic Rock Star Interview Archives while I’m away.
