Artist and Former Musician Dan Witz, whom I’m just going to go ahead and label the Norman Rockwell of Hardcore, is back at Jonathan LeVine Gallery with an outstanding collection of his hyper-realist style paintings and portraits of Hardcore music fans captured in their natural habitat: The Pit. NY Hardcore is Witz’ second solo exhibit at LeVine, following Mosh Pits, Human and Otherwise in July of 2011. The current show features select paintings previously exhibited in 2011.

Paul Insect’s Baby Head Stickers
The Baby Head is Back, Bitches! How & Nosm DKNY Billboard in Times Square
Identical twin artists How & Nosm are among ten artists commissioned in cities around the world to create original artwork for DKNY ARTWORKS. The billboard by How & Nosm, titled I JUST CALLED TO SAY can be found at the intersection of 7th Avenue and 48th Street in Times Square, NYC.

Geoffrey and I impulsively popped in to the Mary Boone Gallery on 24th Street last evening, on the way from Gagosian’s nearly overwhelming Basquiat retrospective to LeVine’s How & Nosm Pop Up on 23rd Street, and discovered an unexpected treat in Keith Sonnier’s 68-70 exhibit. The minimalism of this tiny show really served as an aesthetic palette cleanser between two rather busy exhibits. Continue reading Keith Sonnier 68-70 at Mary Boone Gallery, Chelsea
