Last night, Geoffrey and I did a modified a mid-week art crawl that included a stop at Flag Art Foundation on West 25th Street before heading off to the upper east side to scope out new art by David Zink Yi at Hauser & Wirth and, not long after that, scurrying off to their boss after show party held at The East Wing – where we were served party foods that were just insane! Andy Warhol Prom Outfits
Prom isn’t a rite of passage that I get sentimental about at all, in any way. I mean, Prom Shmom, who cares? In 20 years, one isolated night of awkward earnestness and drunken, hormone-fueled teenage boinking won’t mean anything anyway. What was I just talking about? Oh yes, Prom outfits. Don’t this young couple look really cute and much smarter/cooler than anyone else at their Prom could possibly look, all dressed up in a suit and dress that come together to form a likeness of my very favorite modern artist, Andy Warhol? Man, they look good. I hope they had fun at their stupid Prom.
Andy Warhol Monument in Union Square

The Andy Monument by Rob Pruitt (Photograph By James Ewing)
Rob Pruitt’s really awesome Andy Warhol Monument statue has been up at the intersection of 17th Street and Broadway since March of this year. The statue stands just a few yards from one of two former addresses of Warhol’s (in)famous Factory Studio. During the time I’ve lived in NYC (23 or so years) that same location has housed two nightclubs (Area and the short-lived Palace De Beaute), a porn shop and a Petco, which is what it is now. You can visit the statue, and marvel at its shininess, until they take it down on October 2, 2011.
Queen Unseen Cover Art Sneak Peek
Peter Hince just sent me the cover art for his upcoming Queen memoir, Queen Unseen, which tells his no doubt highly engaging story of the many years he spent working with the band. The book is due to be published in October of this year. Excited!
Pink Thing of The Day: Fuzzy Slipper Cookies
Will such cleverness never cease? Somebody figured out how to make cookies that look like pink fuzzy bedroom slippers! It’s crazy! Hungry Happenings has the step-by-step recipe, with lots of helpful photos, at This Link! Wouldn’t it be cool to make these for a Baby Shower or Slumber Party? I think so.
