New Ceramic Works by Lynda Benglis at Cheim & Read
Ground breaking sculptor/artist Lynda Benglis is always doing something interesting. Her newest work is an engaging series of abstract ceramics made in New Mexico, where she lives part time. In this exhibit at Cheim and Read, Benglis’s seemingly random shaped, clay-based sculptures retain the earthy, elemental, primal nature of clay, and highlight the material’s unique susceptibility to the artist’s touch. Cocktail of The Day: The Cascade Ice Cosmpolitan!
Do you like making cocktails at home? I sure do. But sometimes I am too tired to do much more than put ice in a glass, pour a shot over that and then fill the glass with juice or soda. Nyehaus Gallery, located in a gorgeous restored brownstone on West 20th Street, has launched an exciting exhibition of new resin works by pioneering California-based Light and Space artist, Peter Alexander. This exhibit was a delightful companion piece to the Keith Sonnier exhibit I saw at Mary Boone last month, being all about minimalism, color and the interaction of light and art.
